Call me Dave

Just a though, is  "call me Dave" so critical of Gordon Browns reputation as a bully because they are used to a much higher standard of bullying in Eton?

It is an odd story though isn't it?

It's fascinating. he probably is a bully, most peopel are when they get in a position of power. he's probably no better or worse than all the pms who've gone before.

Bullying is endemic in the civil service, i could tell you stories from my office that would make your hair curl.

But why did she choose to reveal the information, and just before the general election?

It's definitely a breach of confidence, other lesser office workers who have made complaints must be very nervous.

So I don't know. Is she politically motivated? Out to make a couple of bob by selling the story? Is it a plot by the Tories?

She doesn't strike me a stupid, so what did she do it for.

As for whether the bullying should be investigatd. I would say that if the helpline was any good, they will have advised the complainants about action they could take and offered them support. This could have included anyhting from a word to their manager and being more assertive to claiming constructive dismissal. We can't know what action individuals decided to take and to force them into the open with a public enquiry would be unfair. it was probably the last thing they were thinking of when they called the helpline
